Re-birth

This design was inspired by a tattoo artist "steve byrde". now that the copyright problems are out of the qestion il tell you a little bit about this design, butterflys have always been a big symbol in peoples lives let alone tattoo ideas because of there life cycle from cacoon to butterfly and everything in between. manny of its meanings mean "re-birth" "strength" and the abbility to adappt. My reason for creating this design was because of the bright coulors that drew me to it in the first place but of course its me doing this so ive but my own fling on it :P Anyway let me know what you think about this design either on here or facebook, PEACE!

Meet the twins!

This has been a piece that ive wanted to do for a while but i never knew how i was going to do it. Ive always had an intrest for the way that twins think alike and act alike, and maybe they could be able to mind read each other, so i decided to create this grousome piece of two twins that have had there spirits trapped inside a shroom so they can be together forever.

Im very happy with the way the piece has turned out especially the background giving it that "pop" that a painting needs to stand out.

I may be doing a print version of this painting very soon with alot of photoshop editing! But anyway thats all ive got for this week, keep checking the blog for new updates and paintings! PEACE!

Landscapes and Tentcles.

Recently ive been working on a landscape piece, which is a bit differnt to what i normaly do but painting landscapes helps me build up detail and not having to rely on the quil so much for creating shading and shape. This means that doing one or two of these every week helps me with my more mainstream stuff like painting shrooms! Anyway heres a look at the landscape all finished.
I call it Planet Vs Vortex.

My facination with weird and abnormal creatures has only got worse as time has gone on, and the next piece i have to show you is no exception.

This painting is called tentecles and the first thing you think of is its an octopus, but in reality its not instead its just a bunch of tentecles with an eye in the centre. So if anything this is my first attempt at a paintoing with an optical illusion, not a massive one but still and optical illusion non the least. which is great because it just gave this piece some weird points. The coulors are another thing im proud of mixing a very bright pink with greens and blues can be very hard but it gives this piece the contrast it needs to makes the tentcles pop out!

Recently ive been working on paper instead of anything i can grab my hands on to bring out the coulor in my work much more. This i think has worked, also im going to be focusing on using photoshop with my work more so i can get even more high quality prints. But heres what ive been working on lately.

This piece i have edited in photoshop and ive got to admit i love the way its turned out and will be doing more work like this in the future.

New year!

So its the new year, and whats new? terrible joke im sorry. Well recently what has been new is im starting to explore more with paint and serveral techniques such as how to make fairly realistic clouds, like this.

also as youve noticed ive started playing around with drips again, i really think they add a sence of experimentation to your work as well as a really cool effect. Another thing ive been doing is trying to work my shroom fetish into a differnt image and this is what i came up with last night, hopefully im on the right track.

This is watercolour and paint, usuing the two together gives you some really nice vibrant coulors.

Lots of paintings and now, shrooms?

Lately ive been working on alot of charicature work and yes i know i can almost hear everyone typing "like always" but ive decided to go in a complealty differnt direction. Instead of trying to be funny with my characters ive decided to home in more on how they are designed and look at what i can change, such as shape, colour, how they act and how they act around my other designs.

Also check out my latest craze, SHROOMS! ive been trying out differnt styles which youl see more of on facebook when they get uploaded but for now heres my 3.5ft by 3ft shroom piece.

New paintings! 2012

Recently ive been working on little projects on topics that im very intrested in such as weird and underscovered creatures that live on this planet and also 2012. Now this event in time has been "dubed" (the end of the world) this however is not the case, as the mia (mian) people predicted that there was going to be a universal change this is caused by the alinement of our planet and the centre of our milkyway. The alianment will happen on decmber 21st 2012. The centre of our milky way is a dark and dense mass which we know hardly anything about but the mia a civerlisation of people whos understanding of our universe was far more complex than ours is today predicted that (solar) rays are being beamed into our planet all the time by the centre of the milky way changing the way we think and (look), fine tuning all of our sences and helping us use the other 98 percent of our DNA helix which we currently do not use! This will help us evolve into a better species. Anyway i will leave links about this information at the bottom but for now lets have a look at what ive been up to.

More Paintings!

Yes my love of painting still goes on and now ive started working on a much bigger scale rather than just working on tiles im now going to push myself to do bigger and better pieces. You will see more of this when compleated though, but for now heres a look at a few more things ive been working on.

Ive discovered paint!

Yes its true i have moved away from just using pen and photoshop, im not experimenting with paint. This is mainly due to a guy called Rob Clarkson (check out his blog) hes the painting genuis who got me into all this. Anyway ive got a haloween party to get too so with no further a'do heres what ive been up to lately. Comments and feedback will be welcomed. PEACE!

New house!

Yes im all moved in to my new place with my fianc'e Em pictures are below, but theres more! As of now i will be starting work on a new piece while im waiting for the uni term to start here at northampton. Its going to be in the style of banksy and before you all scurry to facebook its not going to be one of his peices just adapted to my style it is going to be worth a look at, but enough of that and enjoy the pictures of my new place.

The holidays, and whats been happening.

Right before i get started id like to type im very sorry for not posting anything for decades, ive been in the proscess of moving and everything is all over the place. However the good news is its been the holidays! this means ive had lots of times to get on with some new projects. So im gona jump straight into it.

Edertorial illustration

Right so for the people who dont know edertorial illustration is the illustrations you see in the "tabloids" thats newspapers to you and me, and i was set a project to come up with two fianl pieces for any article i found, however these had to be done in two differnt mediums.

The first piece was all about the "mass graves of srebrencia". And the title read "mass graves of srbrenica finally reveal their fragmented secrets". This is what i came up with. The piece itself was mainly created using photoshop but the skull itself had to be hand drawn. The key words that i grabbed from the title helped me alot as we commonly ossosiate words with images i decided it was a good idea to go along that route, such as, "graves" this word made me think of death this is where the skull came from, then "fragmented" this made me think of a jigsaw piece thus i started building up the image using the words and "hey presto!" i came up with this.

There where other atempts also, because the article went on to talk about how they were going to identify the bodies through "electrophoriesis" i started to think of ways to incorperate this into my work. This is what i came up with.

As you can see ive enfisised the coulors to make the piece alot more striking and also the "wells" are blood red to add to the terror. The one thing to watch out for when working on this article was to rember that this is a real event and real people were involved in this so i must keep profesional at all times and rember my audiance.







Article 2

Now the heading for this article was "Talking cars could reduce motorway pile-ups". Most people would slap a human mouth on a car and that would be the end of it. However i though why not do it the other way around, i mean it was all there in the article "human like facial features" "the abblilty to know the road ahead" these qoutes are all in the article and this is to just name a few. It was like they had already given me the answer. But and it was a big but i had to do this peice in a differnt medium so i went straight back to my roots, this piece has collarge, paint, ink, and even a bit of photoshop just to make sure. This peice is called "Motor mouth"

The only thing is due to me moving il have to transfer universitys so i wont be at birmingham anymore instead il be transfering to Northampton and all this work will now be irrelivent, however itl all be going into my protfolio.

Well i dont know exactly when il be posting anything else up but i know it will deffinatly be when ive moved to northampton, so until then if anyone does actualy read this thing. chow.

WELCOME BACK!

Wow its been a long time since ive posted anything, and ive done alot of work since then. Anyway lets get started, ive recently added a peice into the cheltnam illustration "Tree Time Tales" project. And the general gist was you had to design an A3 illustration of anything to do with trees or tree related. Mine was about a man called eric that kept eating apple seeds and one day an apple tree grew out of him.

Another peice that ive been working on is a personal project where i had an idea that i wanted to do something to do with diamonds, anyway theres no real reasonw hy i did this but it gave me a chance to get used to using my graphics tablet a bit more.
